What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Laser skin resurfacing is the process of heating and regenerating the skin using lasers.
Who is a Good Candidate for Laser Tightening?
This treatment is ideal for anyone who wants to improve fine lines, scars, uneven skin texture, and wrinkles, but don’t want the negative implications associated with traditional resurfacing. It’s the answer for people looking for a safe and quick procedure to revitalize their skin.
Advantages of Fotona Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment
- Fotona laser allows the Dermal Clinician to carefully control the extent of the procedure depending on the patient’s skin condition
- It also combines the ablative and non-ablative treatments to create a comprehensive skin rejuvenation procedure
- It’s fit for all skin types
How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?
Skin resurfacing and tightening treatments can be done either in ablative modes with an Er: YAG laser or non-ablative using an Nd: YAG laser. The two can also be combined for a more effective treatment. With the Fotona fractional rejuvenation technology, the laser light can precisely target imperfections in the skin without damaging the adjacent healthy skin. The laser energy’s heat stimulates collagen production in the dermis, and the surrounding skin helps speed up the process of rejuvenation.
The Fotona fractional rejuvenation procedure involves 3 steps to address skin imperfections and restore your smooth, glowing skin.
Step 1: Conditioning
The Fotona Nd: YAG beam is passed along the surface to stimulate and heat the skin, preparing it for effective laser therapy.
Step 2: Fractional therapy
The Fotona Er: YAG beam gently removes the old, worn out skin. The micro-ablated channels are replaced with new, tighter and healthier tissue.
Step 3: Peeling
In the final step, the superficial skin imperfections are removed using a light peeling beam. This produces smooth, radiant skin.
Preparation and Aftercare
It is essential to prepare well before the treatment in order to reduce the potential risks and get the best results. Begin by consulting a Dermal Clinician to find out if you’re a good candidate for the treatment. Be sure to choose a Dermal Clinician who is trained and experienced in laser skin resurfacing. The Clinician will examine your skin condition, current overall health, and medical history. The preparation may involve avoiding the sun and using sunscreens or other products. After the procedure, it’s important to cleanse the skin and keep it moist and avoid sunshine. Also, avoid sun exposure and makeup for 48 hours after the treatment. It’s also advisable to avoid exercise for 24 hours.
Our Dermal Clinicians are experienced and will advise you on the necessary preparation and aftercare to achieve the best results.
What Results Can I Expect after the Treatment?
Results after a laser skin resurfacing tend to be gradual and progressive. Once the treatment area heals, you will notice an improvement in your wrinkles and skin tone and texture. Therefore, you can expect a markedly rejuvenated skin appearance that is radiant, smoother, and with improved texture.
The good thing about this body skin tightening treatment is that you can always repeat the procedure when the fine lines, scars, or wrinkles occur again.
How Many Laser Treatments Will I Need?
Fotona laser treatments can vary in aggression depending on the skin condition and the desired outcome. The more aggressive the treatment, the lesser the treatments you will need. Typically, most patients need 3 to 6 treatments for the best results with each session lasting about 60 minutes.
Do the Lasers Hurt?
This treatment does not hurt as it’s not invasive. The area being treated may experience a warm sensation, but, generally, the treatment is pain-free and very comfortable.
What are the Risks of Fotona Laser Resurfacing?
It’s a minimally invasive treatment. The only potential side effects are redness, warm sensation, or mild swelling. People with darker skin tones may also experience some post-inflammatory issues. At DP MediSkin, we have highly qualified and experienced Dermal Clinicians who carry out the procedures in the safest and most effective manner.
How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost?
It’s not possible to give you a precise cost estimate online because the cost is subject to several factors such as the size of the treatment area, location, and the complexity and time taken for the procedure. The best way to get a cost estimate is the actual appointment with us. During the consultation, we will examine you and determine the most suitable treatment route as well as the estimated cost.
