WHAT IS SKIN NEEDLING?
Skin needling is a non-invasive, regenerative treatment designed to trigger the production of collagen and elastin that heal the skin and improve its appearance. Also known as collagen induction therapy, the procedure employs micro-needling to create precise microscopic punctures in the skin that stimulate the body’s release of collagen.
What Conditions Does Skin Needling Treat?
The collagen induction therapy has had proven results for several skin conditions and issues. The treatment is ideal for treating:
- Wrinkles and fine lines
- Stretch marks
- Uneven skin texture and tone
- Scarring, including acne scarring
- Pigmentation
- Hair loss or thinning
- Loose skin
- Open Pores
- Hair loss
- Melasma
How Does Skin Needling Work?
Micro-needling is based on the ability of the skin to repair itself when an injury occurs. When the skin encounters any physical damage, it destroys the old, damaged tissue that causes wrinkles, acne scarring, and fine lines, and then replaces it with new collagen.
It uses tiny needles to create micro-channels or small perforations in the skin. This causes minor injuries in the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing by stimulating collagen and elastin production. Skin needling treatment produces not only more but also better quality elastin and collagen tissue. The new collagen and elastin heal the injuries as well as the surrounding areas, thereby thickening and strengthening the skin and improving the appearance of wrinkles, uneven tone, scarring, and pigmentation.
While other methods of skin rejuvenation use techniques that damage the outer layer of the skin, skin needling creates stimulation without causing any damage to the healthy top layer. The procedure can be used on the face, neck, chest, back, arms, and legs. The size of needles used and the pressure used depend on the area and condition being treated.
Pre Treatment
Before the treatment, we usually assess the condition of your skin condition, and then, come up with a customized treatment plan that suits your needs and will help you attain your skin goals.
Post-Treatment
After a needling session, you may see some redness and swelling, and the skin may feel tight due to the powerful stimulation. This is normal and subsides within 24 hours. However, try to avoid extended exposure to the sun or UV light, as well as heat or freezing temperatures. For best results, we always advise our clients to use sunscreen to prevent sun damage to the skin. Our dermal clinicians will also give you aftercare information based on your treatment plan. It’s important to have good aftercare to ensure the best results.
How Many Treatments Will I Require?
The number of needling sessions depends on your skin type and individual requirements. We recommend 3 to 6 sessions for optimal results. However, when you come for your initial consultation, our dermal clinicians will advise you on the number of sessions you will require to achieve best results.
How Long are Skin Needling Sessions?
Our treatment sessions take about 60 minutes depending on the skin condition and the size of the area.
Is Skin Needling Painful?
The treatment is painless and non-invasive hence you don’t need to worry. However, you may feel some slight itching or tickling. Our dermal clinicians always ensure that you’re comfortable during the treatment and use different settings for the more delicate areas. You will only feel slight pressure during the procedure.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Collagen induction therapy does not give instant results because the collagen stimulation and replacement takes some time. Nevertheless, most people start to notice visible improvement around 4 to 6 weeks after the treatment, but optimal results will be visible after 3 months. Your skin will continue to improve over the next 6 months as the body continues to produce more collagen.
